Shelby Leighton specializes in employment, civil rights, and complex civil litigation. She graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center. Before that, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Psychology from Claremont McKenna College in California. Shelby clerked for Judge Kermit Lipez of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and Justice Jeffrey Hjelm of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. She also worked at a leading plaintiffs’ class action firm in Washington, D.C. and as a Supreme Court Assistance Fellow at Public Citizen Litigation Group, authoring several successful briefs in opposition to certiorari in civil rights and employment cases in the U.S. Supreme Court.
